LUKE RATHBORNE ORDINARY WOES

‘Ordinary Woes’ is the concluding track from Luke Rathborne’s latest release, Again. It closes the album with a blast of fuzzy guitars, punky attitude and a folky sentimentality. He describes the track as “better than I thought it was going to be”, with its combination of pop, punk and just about anything else he can throw in ending up forming a bouncy, addictive sound that threads through the rest of the album. In terms of the video that stands alongside the track, Rathborne has a lot of experience under his belt (Method Man, Jenny Lewis) and combines colourful live-action with clever animation to form a cohesive visual experience. He explains: “The energy of New York City can be quite addictive, but it can also lead you to become anxious, or feeling like you’re lost in the thick of it all. I remember this sensation looking up one day around myself at all the construction and having this feeling like everything was going to be built up around me and swallow me whole. The concept for the video came out of that sensation”. -Dan Peeke
